ICE Innovations
Frequently asked questions
What is ICE Innovations?
ICE Innovations Inc. is a Durham, North Carolina technology company that builds and operates consumer platforms, including Oak Ride, a rideshare app where riders and drivers agree on fares through bidding, Oak Drop local delivery, and iChef, a home chef marketplace, and advises enterprises on AI through its consulting arm, Digiverse LLC.
Is ICE Innovations connected to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement?
No. ICE Innovations Inc. is a private technology company in Durham, North Carolina, founded by Dr. Sarah Choudhary. We are not affiliated with any government agency. We build marketplace platforms, and the only thing we enforce is that the people doing the work see the math.
What is Oak Ride, and what happened to ICE Ride?
Oak Ride is the new name for ICE Ride, our rideshare app. Same company, same app, same team. Riders and drivers agree on fares through bidding, there is no surge pricing, and drivers keep more through monthly plans instead of high commissions. Existing accounts carried over automatically.
How does fare bidding work on Oak Ride?
Enter your pickup and destination and see a suggested fare. Accept it or propose your own. Nearby drivers see your offer with their exact take home and can accept or counter. You can accept a counter or respond once more, up to four rounds of sixty seconds. Once both agree, the price locks before pickup.
Does Oak Ride have surge pricing?
No. The fare is agreed between rider and driver before the ride starts and does not change, except for tolls, waiting beyond the grace period, or a destination you change mid ride.
How do drivers earn more on Oak Ride?
Drivers choose a plan: pay as you go at 25% commission with no monthly fee, or a flat subscription of $49, $149 or $299 a month that drops the commission to 20%, 10% or 0%. A full time driver grossing $4,000 a month keeps about $700 more on Gold than at a 25% commission. Tips are 100% the driver's.
Where is Oak Ride available?
Live in Cary and the RDU airport area. Raleigh, Durham, Apex and Morrisville are on the waitlist and open as driver density grows, then Charlotte and the Triad.
Is Oak Ride safe?
Drivers pass identity verification and a background and driving record check that is rerun yearly. Every ride is GPS tracked, payments are cashless, phone numbers are masked, there is a safety button on every screen, and riders can share a live trip link. Oak carries the commercial insurance North Carolina requires for transportation network companies. Details are on the Safety and Driver Standards page.
What is iChef?
iChef is our home chef marketplace. Home cooks list the dishes they make best, neighbors order, and AI matching pairs eaters with cooks whose food fits their taste and diet. It has its own apps and site at ichef.co.
What is Oak Drop?
Oak Drop is local package delivery by verified Oak drivers, inside the Oak Ride app, with an agreed fee and photo proof at pickup and delivery. It is opening in stages.
What does Digiverse LLC do?
Digiverse is the consulting arm of ICE Innovations. It advises executives and founders on AI strategy, enterprise architecture and building marketplace and AI products, led by our founder.
