Oak Drop Delivery Terms

Effective November 15, 2026. Last updated November 7, 2026. Applies to Oak Ride, Oak Driver and Oak Drop, operated by ICE Innovations Inc. iChef has its own terms at ichef.co.

Oak Drop lets you send an item across town with a nearby courier who is a verified Oak driver. These terms add to the Terms of Service; couriers are also bound by the Driver Agreement. Oak Drop is rolling out in stages, and the app shows whether your area is live.

1. How a delivery works

  1. The sender enters pickup and drop off, describes the item, its approximate size and weight, and declares its value.
  2. The sender proposes a delivery fee or accepts the suggested one. A nearby courier accepts or counters, as with a ride.
  3. The courier takes a photo at pickup, carries the item directly to the drop off, and takes a photo at delivery. Both photos go to the sender.
  4. If a recipient is named, the courier hands the item to that person or leaves it where the sender instructed. The sender's instructions in the app control.

2. Plans

Oak Drop offers a free plan with a per delivery fee and a paid membership, Oak Plus, that reduces or removes delivery fees for a monthly price. Current plans, prices and what each includes are shown in the app and may change with 30 days notice to members. Memberships bill monthly and can be cancelled effective the next billing date.

3. What you can send

Items up to 50 pounds and small enough to fit on a back seat or in a trunk, including documents, food, groceries, clothing, electronics, gifts, keys, and household items. Alcohol and prescription medication may be sent only where the app offers that category in your area, with ID verification of the recipient.

Never send

  • Weapons, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, or anything flammable or hazardous
  • Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or any controlled substance without a valid prescription in a permitted category
  • Cash, bearer instruments, precious metals or jewelry with a value above $500
  • Live animals, human remains, or biological material
  • Stolen goods, counterfeit items, or anything the sender does not have the right to send
  • Anything a reasonable courier would refuse to carry for safety or legal reasons

A courier may refuse or abandon a delivery that violates this list. The sender is responsible for any resulting cost or legal consequence, and the account may be closed.

4. Packaging and declared value

The sender is responsible for packaging an item so that it survives an ordinary car journey. The declared value is the most Oak or the courier will pay if the item is lost or damaged, up to a maximum of $500 per delivery unless the sender buys additional protection in the app where offered. Items with no declared value are covered to $100. We may ask for proof of value, such as a receipt, before paying a claim.

5. Lost, damaged or wrong deliveries

Report a problem in the app within 24 hours of the delivery time with photos. We review the pickup and delivery photos, the courier's route and both parties' statements, and decide within 5 business days. Where the courier is at fault we refund the delivery fee and pay the declared value up to the limit. Where the item was mis described, poorly packaged, or left as the sender instructed and then went missing, the sender bears the loss. Food and perishables are covered for non delivery only, not for condition.

6. Courier obligations

  • Carry the item directly; no stops with the item unattended in view, and no opening or inspecting beyond what the pickup photo requires
  • Follow the sender's drop off instructions and take the delivery photo before leaving
  • Do not accept a delivery you cannot carry safely or that appears to be on the prohibited list
  • If a recipient is unavailable and no leave instruction was given, wait 10 minutes, attempt contact through the app, then return the item to the sender; the sender pays the return at the original fee

7. Cancellations

Cancellation windows and fees for deliveries follow Cancellations and Refunds.

8. Liability

Oak's liability for any single delivery is limited to the delivery fee paid plus the declared value up to the applicable limit. Oak is not liable for delay except where the courier was at fault and the delivery was marked time sensitive in the app.
